Custom Product FAQs
Here you’ll find answers to custom product questions that are frequently posed to our Sales Team.
Are other durometers/hardnesses available?
For some materials, such as PVC, yes. Others our fluoropolymers, for example are offered only in one durometer. Our product specifications note whether other hardnesses are available.
Are custom parts proprietary to a specific customer?
Yes. When customers have a part custom manufactured to their drawing, the design and drawings for that part are theirs. We will not offer them to anyone else.
Can you print my company name on the tubing?
In many cases, yes, although it depends on the material. Identifying your company on the tubing or hose is a good way to promote your name and brand. You may also print sizes, capabilities or limitations, intended uses, and other information directly on the tubing.
What is the lead time for a custom item?
The nature of the word “custom” relays the fact that each project is different. All factors of a made-to-order part must be considered before a lead time can be established, therefore lead times are calculated individually for each custom part. Depending on the complexity of the item, lead times can range from a few to several weeks.
Can I get (name of product) in metric sizes?
NewAge Industries stocks a few products, namely fluoropolymer tubing, Nylotube® nylon tubing, and Newloc® Acetal push-to-connect fittings, in metric sizes. Most other tubing and hose can be manufactured in metric or custom sizes. Minimum quantities apply.
Can you give me quotes on components needed to make an assembly from tubing, fittings, and clamps and on a similar part that’s been formed into a shape?
Yes, depending on the material. We can provide quotations on an assembly’s components and on a heat-formed shape to compare costs. Heat-formed shapes are frequently the more economical choice, as they eliminate the time, labor, and inventory requirements of assembled parts.
Can I get my part cut into pieces?
Yes, in most cases although an additional charge usually applies. Certain items are sold only in standard lengths, such as 25 feet, due to cleanliness and packaging reasons. Other items may be cut as they come off the production line just let us know what length you need.
I need to have two pieces of (name of product) attached together. Is there a special glue that I can use to join it to itself?
Some adhesives can be harmful to plastic and rubber material. They can eat away at the material and end up contaminating the interior and any product flowing within. NewAge uses a proprietary process called Hot Bond® to thermally bond tubing and hose together; no adhesives are used. Products of similar material (PVC to PVC, polyurethane to polyurethane) are run through special equipment that attaches lengths of tubing or hose.
