It can be challenging to make sure you’ve covered all the bases during the tubing and hose selection process. Have you considered all the elements involved with the application? Temperatures, chemicals, pressures, flexibility needs? In Tubing & Hose Buying Tips we’ll address common selection factors, one at a time, in each issue of extrusions.
Does your application involve water, condensation, or humidity? Tubing and hose materials react to moisture in different ways.
Some materials absorb water and other liquids, and that may be unacceptable. Absorption can cause the tubing to swell, so if the application involves dispensing measured amounts of a fluid, you may actually be getting less than the desired amount.

Polypropylene
Polypropylene, or PP, is one of the lightest thermoplastics available. Developed in the 1950’s, today it is used for packaging, textiles, reusable containers, automotive components, banknotes, and more, in addition to tubing. In many of its forms, it is recyclable and designated by the number 5.
Polypropylene provides excellent dimensional stability and electrical properties and good surface hardness.
