What Do They Mean to the User?

When a product, company, process, or person holds certification, it means that facts are confirmed through the use of documentary evidence. In other words, it gives you assurance that the certificate holder does what it claims to. Testing or verification, usually by an outside organization, has been performed and details have been checked. Certification removes a degree of uncertainty.

The word "certified" is often used in relation to automotive vehicles. Certified used (or pre-owned) vehicles are checked for a variety of things such as appearance, safety components, and engine function to offer potential buyers confidence in the quality of the vehicle.

So what does certification mean when it comes to tubing and reinforced hose? That, of course, depends on your application. For example, will the tubing be used for potable water transfer, food processing, as a chemical line, or as an air discharge? Each situation has its own requirements and therefore its own needs when it comes to certification. The potable water application may need tubing certified by the National Sanitation Foundation (NSF). Another factor to consider is that sometimes the materials used in the manufacture of a product contain certifications; sometimes it is the finished product itself.

Many applications do not need certification of any kind – meeting temperature, pressure, and chemical resistance requirements are often more than enough. But when they do, certification offers the assurance that a particular tubing material and style is right for your application.

These issues and others can be discussed with NewAge's Fluid Transfer Specialists. They are ready to discuss your applications and offer suggestions on how to meet your tubing and hose needs. Call or send an email today.
