|The Roles of NewAge's Committees, Part 2 of 2
NewAge has several committees aimed at helping our community, our natural resources and our well-being. Each committee consists of team members who have volunteered to take part, typically because he or she has a genuine interest in the committee's purpose. In the last issue we looked at NewAge's Helping Hands, Safety and Fun committees. This time we'll examine three others and explain why they exist, what they do, and how they benefit you.
Wellness - The Wellness committee is our longest-running group. The committee began as a way to promote a healthier lifestyle – mainly healthier eating, smoking cessation, fitness and exercise. Team members have refocused the committee's goals over the years to include other forms of wellness such as mental health and stress management. The committee's current programs include onsite chair massages, mindfulness meditation sessions, competitive cooking events, a bulletin board where healthy recipes are regularly posted, and a wellness reimbursement program. This program allows team members to join a gym, participate in a weight loss program, or engage in other wellness activities, and then get reimbursed for some of the costs involved.
Green - This team meets monthly to discuss how NewAge can increase its reduce-reuse-recycle plans and develop new ways to protect the company's resources and our environment. Recent projects include recycling single-use/alkaline batteries and ink and toner cartridges (ongoing programs), an e-waste recycling project, new landscaping to improve aesthetics, and a lunchtime cleanup of the grounds prior to a visit by Pennsylvania's Governor Tom Wolf. The committee has also vetted use of the company's electric vehicle recharging stations and using plants to enhance the environment inside the building.
ESOP - NewAge's Employee Stock Ownership Plan is a retirement plan for team members. The committee exists as a gateway for team member ideas and feedback regarding the plan, how it works and its retirement benefits. The ESOP, now in its 12th year, has helped several retirees realize an earlier-then-anticipated start to their life after NewAge. The plan continues to substantially increase in value through invested cash and company stock.
So, how do these committees help you? They help make sure that we are a healthy and content group of people. They watch out for our use of resources and focus on conservation. And they remind us that we are working toward the common goal of success and prosperity. Being owners of an exciting, progressive company helps our goal of providing you, our customers, with high-quality products that are manufactured precisely and safely.
