Team Members Help Underprivileged
Children During the Holidays
The team members at NewAge Industries contribute to the Toys for Tots program to help disadvantaged families and children in our area. Conducted by the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve, the mission of the Toys for Tots program is to collect new, unwrapped toys for children in the local community. The primary goal of Toys for Tots is to deliver, through a new toy at Christmas, a message of hope to underprivileged youngsters that will motivate them to grow into responsible, productive, patriotic citizens and community leaders.
Donations to a Local Food Pantry
We organize food drives to help individuals and families who struggle with hunger in the Philadelphia area. Team members donate non-perishable food items which are collected and given to the Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry that distributes food to local people in need.
Enrichment of a School in Impoverished Cambodia
NewAge has donated over a dozen laptop computers to the Caramanico School in northeast Cambodia. The school, founded by Anne Marble and Thomas Caramanico in 2006, serves hundreds of students in rural Ratanakiri province. With multiple computers and a solar panel system supplying electricity, the school is able to offer computer-aided classes to facilitate student education.
Employees Give the Gift of Life
Several times throughout the year, NewAge invites its team members to take an hour of their workday to donate a pint of blood. The American Red Cross sets up a temporary donation site at or near the company’s headquarters, allowing NewAge’s team to conveniently contribute to the area’s blood supply.
Summer Internships Give Students First-Hand Business Insights
Students from Hatboro-Horsham High School keep busy during the summer with its Bridges internship program. Targeted to juniors and seniors, Bridges can assist students in deciding on college courses. Interested students must complete an internship application and interview with a teacher. The teachers work with students to develop resumes, talk with them about their interests, and identify possible placements. Here at NewAge, interns meet regularly with CEO Ken Baker and department leaders and have the opportunity to spend time with various team members to learn about different job responsibilities and requirements.
Bringing the Real Business World into the Classroom
NewAge Industries works with an educational organization called Partners in Education, which connects businesses with local high schools. Our company’s CEO, Ken Baker, truly believes that today’s students are tomorrow’s leaders and generously gives time and money to both. Ken visits the business classes of our area’s two high schools to communicate topics ranging from business ethics to career development and interviewing skills. NewAge also hosts teachers and students at the company’s offices where they can learn about educational requirements, job fields in demand, intern opportunities, and the complexities and rewards of operating a business. Partners in Education helps bring the real business world into the classroom.
Supporting School Sports & Music
NewAge frequently responds to requests from the athletic teams of local schools and sports associations and from school-sponsored musical groups. The teams and groups ask businesses for financial support by the placement of an advertisement in program books to accompany their events. These ads remind attendees who NewAge is and what we do, while helping the kids.
